The used car market now allows you to find an electric car for less than a new one. Depending on the model and its overall condition, you can score some great deals. But be careful with the battery, as proven by this Peugeot e-2008 we found on the website Mobile.de and for sale in the Netherlands.
Launched in 2020, this Peugeot e-2008 GT can quickly attract attention with a selling price of €11,398, a few thousand euros more than a Citroën Ami. But this is the most mileage-dense used Peugeot e-2008 in Europe, with 241,929 km on the odometer. This may raise some doubts about the health of its battery.
Less range than a city car for this Peugeot e-2008
But this is a detail that this advertiser (worth noting) communicates transparently, with a copy of the Moba battery certificate. Thus, we learn that the battery of this Peugeot e-2008 is capped at a rate of 75%, with 34.7 kWh of usable power remaining out of the original 46.3 kWh. Thus, from a WLTP range of 320 km, there would officially be only 240 km left.
The Peugeot warranty covers the battery for 8 years or 160,000 km at a minimum rate of 70%. Due to the mileage, this battery is no longer covered by the warranty. Two solutions are then available to those who are tempted: keep the battery, and not be able to travel more than 210 km in mixed driving, and no more than 140 km on the highway. Otherwise, you'll need to go to the workshop to have the battery replaced. A process that could easily cost more than €10,000! In either case, the asking price for this electric SUV seems very high!
