Stellantis postpones launch of electric Ram pickup again

Stellantis postpones launch of electric Ram pickup again

Announced for almost two years, Ram's first electric pickup has been postponed again. But the Ramcharger with range extender will be launched as planned in the first half of 2025.

Faced with the Tesla Cybertruck, Ford and GM have rushed to get in on the action. Stellantis, on the other hand, is in no rush to release its electric pickup in the United States.

Its Ram brand was the last to jump on the bandwagon and only confirmed the arrival of an electric model at CES in Las Vegas in January 2023 with the presentation of its Ram Revolution concept. The production version, which turns out to be only an evolution of the existing pickup, is unveiled a few months later and should then be marketed at the end of 2024. A date subsequently pushed back to 2025, and we are now talking about 2026.

Stellantis justifies its choice by the sales that remain too low on the electric pickup market. After an enthusiastic start, the Ford F-150 Lightning has revised its ambitions downwards, while the Tesla Cybertruck seems to be struggling to find new customers after having exhausted its waiting list.

Ram will nevertheless remain present on the electrified pickup market, since it is preparing to market the Ramcharger. An electric pickup that also has a V6 gasoline engine... but the latter only recharges the battery. It is therefore a range extender.

The arrival in Europe of the Ram 1500 REV no longer has an official timetable for the moment.
