Renault Scénic E-Tech electric: already improvements to better compete with the Tesla Model Y

Just one year after its arrival in dealerships, the Scénic benefits from technical improvements, including bidirectional charging, Plug&Charge, and the One Pedal function. The range is also undergoing changes.

Bidirectional Charging, V2L, and V2G

The Scénic now comes standard with an 11 kW bidirectional AC charger. It will also be available as an option by summer 2025 with a 22 kW bidirectional AC charger. With these chargers, the Scénic offers both V2L and V2G functions.

In V2L, the car becomes a power source for small appliances such as a coffee maker or vacuum cleaner. The vehicle's battery can provide the equivalent power of a 220-volt outlet, with a maximum output power of 3.7 kW.

In V2G, the car can return energy to the electrical grid. Renault's idea is to lower the cost of charging: the Mobilize Powerbox Verso smart charging station charges when energy is abundant on the grid and therefore cheaper. Charging is interrupted during consumption peaks, and the electricity in the battery can be fed back into the electricity grid when the price of electricity is higher.

To do this, in addition to the dedicated charging station, you must subscribe to a Mobilize electricity contract.

Plug & Charge

Soon to be integrated into the Mobilize Charge Pass, Plug & Charge will eliminate the need for a badge or payment card to charge at compatible DC charging stations. Upon plugging in, the charging station will recognize the vehicle and trigger charging, automatically linking the billing to the My Renault app.

One Pedal Function

Models equipped with regenerative braking with steering wheel-mounted paddles now have the One Pedal function. This fifth level of regeneration allows you to control both acceleration and braking with just the right pedal, allowing you to stop at a stop sign or traffic light without having to touch the brake pedal. The latter remains there for heavier braking.

According to Renault, this technology "offers several advantages: smoother and less demanding driving in urban environments, reduced brake pad wear, and optimized energy recovery."

A plus: One Pedal can be retrofitted to vehicles already on the market equipped with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters (free update through the Renault network or remotely via FOTA).

Driver Recognition

Introduced with the restyled Austral and Espace, driver recognition is now available on the Scénic. A camera integrated into the windshield pillar will recognize the driver and activate user profile settings, such as their favorite radio station and media choices, driving position settings (electric adjustments for the driver's seat and exterior mirrors), and applications downloaded to the OpenR Link system.

The camera also plays a safety role, monitoring driver attention and signs of fatigue.

More connected

The vehicle benefits from a connected maintenance service, via the MyRenault app, allowing you to schedule maintenance appointments, receive alerts on the vehicle's health, and more.

The OpenR Link multimedia system with Google features is regularly improved. It includes, for example, the following features:

Route modification during navigation to add/modify stopping points, with immediate recalculation of charging stops on the new route.
Among the suggested routes, the one with the lowest electricity consumption is clearly indicated.
The ability to configure a route on your smartphone via Google Maps to find it directly in the vehicle's multimedia system.

Revised Range

Exit the base Evolution trim. The offering begins with the Techno variant, which still offers a choice between the 60 kWh and 87 kWh batteries. The extended range is then offered in the Techno Iconic option and the Techno Esprit Alpine option.

The Iconic has evolved, with standard Titanium Black upholstery accompanied by Alcantara decorative inserts on the doors and dashboard, and optional Light Sand Gray upholstery with lime wood decorative inserts. The front seats and rear bench seat have been redesigned to enhance lateral support. The heated passenger seat is now electrically adjustable.

On the Esprit Alpine, the front seats now feature standard 6-way power adjustment (forward, up and down), in addition to the existing electric lumbar adjustment and heating function

Techno: 19-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, rearview camera, 12-inch touchscreen with OpenRLink and Google services, induction charger, power tailgate, 11 kW bidirectional charger, heat pump.

Esprit Alpine techno option: Techno + 20-inch wheels, electric and heated front seats, heated steering wheel, driver recognition, and specific Esprit Alpine trim.

Esprit Iconic techno option: Techno + Solarbay panoramic roof, Harman Kardon audio system, 360° vision, level 2 semi-autonomous driving, parking assist, blind spot monitoring with lane correction, occupant safety exit alert, and V2L adapter.

The Esprit Alpine and Iconic are available as an optional package to take advantage of the eco-friendly bonus.
