Skoda Octavia Retrofit Showdown: Vote Now for the Best Transformation!

Skoda Octavia Retrofit Project - Classic Combi Estate vs. High-Performance Turbo Model at Paris Motor Show

Now that the two participants in the Skoda challenge have successfully completed their projects, the competition begins! It’s time for you to cast your vote in the public contest. Read on to learn more about each project and what makes them unique!

Turbo’s Project: A Hot Wheels-Style Beast with Serious Power

After months of hard work, Turbo has finally put the finishing touches on its retrofit project—nearly 10 months past the deadline set by Skoda. Their efforts culminated in a spectacular reveal at the Paris Motor Show. Presented by Cyril Drevet and Etienne Bruet, the car was developed alongside W-Autosport, a well-known name in car customization.

Their creation brings serious flair and a touch of nostalgia for Hot Wheels enthusiasts. With features like significantly flared fenders, oversized rims, an aggressive spoiler, substantial air vents, and a bold front blade, Turbo's project is a head-turner. The eye-catching paint job, in Mamba Green from the Enyaq RS, adds to the striking visuals of this high-octane beast.

But this project isn't just about looks—it's packed with serious performance. Turbo’s car boasts a rear axle from a Tesla Model S, delivering 600 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, paired with six Enyaq battery modules and a front axle from a Nissan GTR. All of this is built on a tubular chassis, making it a true racing car. The result is a thrilling fusion of classic design and cutting-edge performance that’s sure to capture attention.

Our Skoda Octavia Retrofit: A Blend of Efficiency and Heritage

On the other hand, our Skoda Octavia retrofit project takes a different approach. If you’ve been following our journey, you’ll know that we’ve aimed for a harmonious blend of classic charm and modern efficiency. Our project showcases a 1968 Combi estate version of the first-generation Skoda Octavia, lovingly restored to maintain its original spirit.

With an emphasis on versatility, our design ensures no space is sacrificed. To retain the original loading volume and passenger capacity, we carefully split a battery pack made of four Enyaq modules, placing one half in the spare wheel compartment and the other under the hood. This smart design allows us to maintain the car’s original suspension and brakes while keeping the overall weight increase minimal—just 140 kg more than the original.

Our project wasn’t just about technical upgrades; a significant part of the budget went towards restoring the car’s rust-damaged body and chassis. Given our commitment to reviving a vehicle that was beyond repair, this restoration process was essential to bring the Skoda back to its former glory while subtly modernizing it inside and out.

But the competition doesn’t end there. After the public vote, a jury (still under wraps) will weigh in as the second phase of this contest. Finally, the ultimate showdown will take place in November during the testing phase.

Support us and celebrate the spirit of innovation and restoration with our Skoda Octavia retrofit project. Let’s show that efficiency and respect for heritage can be as thrilling as raw power! Thank you in advance for your support and stay tuned for the next steps in this adventure.
