Ferrari's first 100% electric car will arrive in 2025. The brand's boss provided some details on the future model. He promises that he will never abandon thermal engines.
A first noisy 100% electric Ferrari?
Ferrari plans to market its first 100% electric car sometime in 2025. Benedetto Vigna, the man at the head of the brand, spoke to our colleagues at CNBC about the future of his company. He declared that this first electric model will have the capacity to provoke “great emotions”. As is the case with the brand’s legendary thermal cars.
We also learn that this electric Ferrari will not be silent like a classic electric car. “If you know the technology, you can do a lot with electric cars,” says Vigna. However, he did not specify whether the sound of the future electric motor would be synthesized, as is the case on the BMW i4, iX and i7.
The brand will not abandon thermal engines
Asked about the differences between a Tesla and an electric Ferrari, he made it clear that there will be “a world between ordinary electric cars and our model”. As one might suspect, the future supercar will therefore not be a car like any other. Whatever the engine, hybrid, 100% electric or thermal, Ferrari will continue to make Ferrari.
Moreover, the Italian company does not intend to move into a 100% electric era. Benedetto Vigna explained that the brand would not stop producing thermal cars. According to him, “we must let the customer choose what is under the hood”. But Ferrari still estimates that hybrid and electric models will represent 60% of sales by 2026.
