BMW prepares an electric coupe for its Neue Klasse

BMW prepares an electric coupe for its Neue Klasse

Rest assured, the future of the BMW range does not only lie in SUVs. The Bavarian test tracks are covered by the prototype of a new electric coupe which will serve as a locomotive for the Neue Klasse family.

From next year, BMW will market the first models from the Neue Klasse platform. A base dedicated to electric vehicles, and whose name evokes the family of models launched in the 1960s and which saved the brand, while strongly contributing to the establishment of its image as a manufacturer of sports vehicles. This new family of models will be inaugurated by the iX3 SUV, then will come numerous other vehicles which will cover all segments C and D by the end of the decade, both at BMW and at Mini.

But alongside all these SUVs and sedans, BMW is well aware that it must also keep in its range a model capable of conveying its sporting identity a little better. An electric coupe was actually surprised near the manufacturer's test tracks. The car is relatively advanced in its design and if the styling details still remain hidden, the prototypes already give an idea of its proportions. We can imagine that this model will arrive on the market by 2026. And that's pretty good, since that's when production of the Z4 will end... Will the new model feature the letter M?

Important detail, the prototype seems to use wheel motors, of which there are four. BMW has also invested several million in a specialist in this technology, Deepdrive... Thus prepared, this electric coupe could announce more than 1000 hp in its ultimate versions, while visibly retaining reasonable proportions.
