Why Mini is lowering the prices of its electric models?

Why Mini is lowering the prices of its electric models

A nice surprise, Mini prices dropped on October 1st. But there is a trade-off for the customer.

More and more expensive cars? Not at Mini! The British manufacturer has just reduced all of its prices in France. This may come as a surprise, especially from a premium brand. Especially since the reductions can be significant, sometimes more than 10%.

What is the reason? As the Auto Actu website explains, it is following the implementation of a new type of distribution, called the agency contract. With this, it is the manufacturer who invoices the customer directly for the car and no longer the dealership. One of the advantages for the brand is to keep control of the sale prices, which it therefore decides.

For the manufacturer, it is a guarantee of better controlled profitability, for the customer, it is the guarantee of having a fixed price, which does not change depending on the dealership. He will also find the same price on the internet, thus facilitating the online order. However, there is a counterpart: the announced price is no longer negotiable. We cannot therefore expect a discount!

This is why the "official" prices have been lowered. They adapt to the fact that discounts were previously granted. We must therefore get used to the idea that the price now displayed is the final price.

But it may be worth it, because the prices have dropped significantly, and perhaps even more than what a discount could bring. Thus, the new electric 3-door Mini is now displayed from €30,650 instead of €34,000, or €3,350 less. Which will better position it against the competition (even if we remember that it is not entitled to the bonus).

For the Aceman, the price drops from €38,000 to €33,550. And for the large electric Countryman, it goes from €44,000 to €39,150. And the latter benefits from the bonus, which gives €35,150 for a 204 hp model with 462 km of autonomy.
