The night of the 24 hours of Le Mans saw a large part of the race under a safety car due to rain that was too heavy for safety. The little surprise is that Toyota finds itself playing for the win thanks to these twists and turns.
The race has now started again with the rain having stopped. The #8 Toyota is in the lead, but the gaps are small. The #6 Penske Porsche is second ahead of the #7 Toyota. And Ferrari in all this? The #50 is 4th ahead of the #83 in 5th. Cadillac #2 is 6th.
It must be said for the 83 that Kubica having been judged responsible for the collision with Vanthoor, the car received a 30-second stoppage. Obviously, the safety cars reduced the gaps to zero and it's a bit like we were setting off for a race lasting just over 7 hours.
But all is not over because rain is forecast for the finish. For the moment the sun is playing hide and seek with the clouds. This short-circuited night leaves a bitter taste for the toughest fans who had no other choice but to take shelter and not even have a show on track.
The Peugeots are 14th and 15th. It's not "the worst of the worst" but at Peugeot we know that this year it's impossible with the BoP being too unfavorable.
In LMP2, Vector Sport is ahead of AF Corse and United Autosport. In LMGT3, Manthey EMA is ahead of the Irons Dames in the refueling game, and United Autosport.

The night was very calm at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2024. And for good reason since the Race Direction preferred to play it safe by taking out the safety cars for hours. It must be said that the rain was very heavy, making the track perilous.
Surprise this morning, Toyota is leading the way. But the gaps have been reduced to zero and therefore everything remains to be done in the next 7 hours.
