In partnership with Didi, Xpeng is launching a new range of vehicles, called Mona. First up, the M03 sedan which should arrive on the Chinese market for under 25,000 euros.
Success is not always there for the Chinese. This is the case of the Xpeng P5, whose sales are at their lowest in China and which the brand ultimately decided not to launch in Europe. To try its luck again, the small manufacturer with big ambitions joined forces with Didi, the Chinese equivalent of Uber, by buying its automobile division. Didi remains primarily involved in the design and marketing of the vehicle.
The association gives birth to a range called Mona, for Made Of New AI. A range, not a separate brand as had been considered for a while. Some prototypes have also been seen with a specific logo, but it is indeed the high, 2.81 m wheelbase). The style is marked by soft shapes, devoid of aggressiveness, with a similar signature of the optics at the front and rear. The interior still remains to be discovered.
This will also be the case for the detailed characteristics of the propulsion chain. The capacity of the batteries is not yet specified, but they will be supplied by Fudi Battery, a subsidiary of BYD. The engine located at the rear develops 140 kW / 190 hp or 160 kW / 218 hp depending on the version.
With a price war raging in China, the Xpeng P7 large sedan starts at just 210,000 RMB (€27,000). The Mona M03 will therefore be more affordable and its range could start around 180,000 RMB (23,000 €).
