At the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, Honda presented the electric version of the CRF450 motocross bike and an urban scooter with a removable battery.
Honda announced it during the 2019 Geneva Motor Show: all of its models will be electrified by 2025. The Japanese manufacturer is now applying its zero-emissions policy to its range of two-wheelers. At the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, it unveiled prototypes of an electric motocross bike and an electric urban scooter.
The off-road motorcycle presented is nothing more and nothing less than an electrified Honda CRF450. A “CR Electric” equipped with the same frame, the same Showa suspensions and tires as its thermal counterpart. Only the compact electric motor unit supplied by Mugen sets it apart. The brand has not communicated any technical data.
Honda also exhibited its Benly urban scooter, whose 110cc thermal unit has been swapped for an electric motor. It stands out from the competition by the presence of a removable battery, the same as on board its PCX maxi-scooter. They can therefore be exchanged quickly, practical for professionals such as delivery people, who can avoid the downtime associated with recharging.
