Polestar hires Audi e-tron GT designer

Polestar hires Audi e-tron GT designer

Polestar has announced the recruitment of a new designer for its electric cars. The man comes from the VAG group, and has participated in the design of Volkswagen and Audi models.

For the past six years, Maximilian Missoni has been in charge of design at Polestar. Before that, he worked for many years for Volvo and VW, and has now left the Swedish company.

“I thank Max for his leadership and camaraderie during the creation of Polestar as the only electric vehicle brand in Europe,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar. “He has helped to define the design standards that have made Polestar a luxury and performance brand.”

Philipp Römers will replace Missoni, a designer with around 25 years of experience. The German thus becomes director of design at Polestar. Before that, he held the same position at Audi. There, he notably designed the shapes of the e-tron GT electric sedan.

Experience in luxury and performance

Previously, the designer led the design department at Volkswagen, where he was involved in designing the seventh generation of the compact Golf, VW’s bestseller.

“Polestar is a model of a design-driven automotive company,” said Römers. “It is a great honour for me to take over the design department. I look forward to working with the creative team to design the next generation.”

Thomas Ingenlath also welcomed his new employee. He does not hide his pleasure to welcome a specialist in luxury and sports models back into his ranks.

“I am delighted to welcome Philipp to Polestar. Philipp’s modern approach to automotive design and his experience in the luxury and performance segment will really help us take the next step in the development of our model range.”
