After the plug-in hybrid Bentley Bentayga, it is one of the venerable sedans of the English brand which is switching to PHEV engines. The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid slots into a range that is astonishing to say the least, between a V8 version and a W12.
This electrified version of the English sedan differs in no way from the others aesthetically. The weight is necessarily greater than that of the V8 version, even if Bentley does not communicate it.
Engine and performance of the Flying Spur Hybrid
The PHEV version of the Flying Spur does not use the engine base of the SUV and instead introduces an all-new 2.9-liter V6. The power unit – which also includes a 100 kW electric motor – now develops 544 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. 0 to 100 km/h is done in 4.1 seconds and the speed tops out at 285 km/h, which is performance close to that of the V8 version of the sedan.
Battery and autonomy
The battery of the Bentley Flying Spur plug-in hybrid has a capacity of 14.1 kWh. Bentley announces a 100% electric range of 40 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. Furthermore, it is possible to travel 700 km with the Flying Spur by starting a trip with a full tank of gasoline and a charged battery.
Price and marketing of the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid
The plug-in hybrid Flying Spur is already present in several markets. However, it is still expected to arrive in France in the future, without any further information. The marketing date and price of the Flying Spur Hybrid in France are in fact unknown.
